This week’s competition was an epic game of Pass the Ace.
the Dianamo wins again

The Dianamo

The objective is to get the highest playing card (King). If you have a low card or an Ace you can steal the next player’s card. The player with lowest card in each round is out.

With the last Pass the Ace game still fresh on our minds, old rivalries resurfaced. Over many rounds, player after player was eliminated; their departure was punctuated by the rousing rendition of “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye”. In the final battle, only Steph and Dian remained…but alas Dian (aka “the Dianamo”) walked away with yet another win. Until next recess…

This week’s competition was one of the most challenging yet. The goal: spin a quarter on the table, catch it mid-spin with your thumbs and then catapult it into a bucket a couple of feet away. Each person got two attempts.

The FaQtory Recess - flipping quarters into a bucketBy the end of a first round consisting of flying coins and a lot of laughs, three people got the coin in the bucket. Melissa, Neil and Carolyn moved to the second round. This is where things got a little crazy. For the next round, same rules…smaller cup.

After a number of coin tosses with no winners, but a few close calls, we brought back the bucket but moved it further away. The distance proved equally challenging. At this point, stamina was failing and thumbs were beginning to tire, proving that this would be a game of endurance. After a well-fought battle, Carolyn took the prize.

This week’s challenge: be the quickest to pull out the papers sandwiched between a tower of 4 plastic cups, leaving the cups neatly stacked.
Fast and Steady

It's all in the wrist!

In groups of three, we raced to move on to the next round. Only the fastest of each heat would advance.  Steady hands and quick reflexes were our greatest allies. Some cup towers were stacked in seconds, while other’s tumbled.

The competition was fierce, but in the end, Dian dominated for a second week in a row, walking away with another win. Can she make it three in a row? Until next recess…
